In the middle of the night, Tom Leroy calls the emergency services to say that he has had a road accident and that his wife is stuck in the fiery wreck. When emergency services arrive, his wife is already dead.
A month before the accident, Tom and Linda try to get a new loan to save Linda's tanning salon. The bank refuses the loan and threatens to seize their house and other assets if they don't repay their outstanding debt soon.
