Jack Sugden has come home for his father's funeral after a 9 year absence. The rest of the family resent him because his father left him the farm. New neighbours Marion Wilks and her father Henry, want to build a road through the Sugden farm. Jack has taken a shine to Marian Wilks, but she wants nothing to do with him.

Wilks lawyer Peters says he has the right-of-way on the Sugden land. Joe chats with Marian and they become friends. 250 hens have to be destroyed because of a disease. Joe and Jack find a shot bird on the property and suspect Henry Wilks is poaching.

The hens have been disposed of but Jack refuses to get any more. Having discovered an old mill house on the land, he decides to live there and give the farm to Annie, Peggy and Joe. Peggy discovers she is pregnant and wants to leave home. Joe teaches Marian how to fish.

It is revealed that Jack has a secret life with "Lynn" in London, and is hiding from something. Marian's car breaks down and Jack helps her out. It starts to rain and they run for an abandoned farm where he tells her that he likes her. He gets a letter to meet with Wilks lawyer about access to his land.

Joe finds out from Amos that Jack was seen coming out of the barn with Marian. He goes to the Wilks farm to find Jack is there. Since Marian broke Matt's fishing rod that Peggy gave him, Joe borrows money from 3 people to fix it. When Annie finds out, she confronts Joe. Peggy is angry that Matt is doing all the work while Jack and Joe are chasing Marian.

Jack does not want to work so he asks Matt to hire someone. Joe overhears Jack telling someone on the phone to meet him at the Feathers on Wednesday. The Wilks are looking for a gourmet cook and Marian asks Annie. She also asks if there is a good restaurant, and Joe recommends the Feathers for Wednesday, hoping Marian will catch Jack with another woman. The right of way issue is solved, but Jack tells Wilks, that if he opens a road, the rovers also have the right to pass through the Wilks manor.

Jack tells Wilks if he uses the new road, it must also be open to the public to use. Wilks doesn't want people passing through his property, so he decides to scrap the whole lawsuit. Joe is having a quiet drink, when Ruth joins him to ask about Jack. Her jealous husband comes in and tells her to get home to the children.

Matt has a job interview in Bradford in two days. Jack goes to the Feathers to meet Lynn. She has registered under Sugden. The Wilks are also at the same hotel and Henry spots Jack and Lynn together. He inquires at the desk and finds out she is Jack's wife, and gets Marian out of there before she sees them. Joe shows up and finds out too.

Tom tells Ruth about a car accident between Henry and Joe. Matt talks to Jack about a new van. Tom asks Jack for a job. PC Ball asks Amos if Joe had been at the Woolpack drinking before the accident.

Matt has his interview today. Ruth goes to see Jack and realizes that there is nothing between them. Joe has woken up and is in bad shape, While Wilkes has a compound fracture in his leg. Tom starts work at the farm and is not pulling his weight.

Matt tells Peggy that he did not get the job and she goes after Jack for money. Matt tells Jack that Tom is lazy. Tom gets Ruth to go to the Woolpack because he wants to bump into Jack. He shows him pictures of his eldest son also named Jack. PC Ball questions both Joe and Henry in the hospital.

Tom starts throwing threats about Jack being the real father of Tom's son Jackie. Ruth begs Jack to sack him. Marian breaks off with Jack, then he sacks Tom. Ruth has packed up, and asks Tom if he is coming with her to her sisters to live.

Henry is home from hospital. Jack buys a new van for Matt and Peggy. Annie realizes Jack has more money than he is letting on. PC Ball is back to tell Joe that his insurance has expired. Janie visits Joe.

Jack makes an enemy in Janie after embarrassing her in front of his family. Meanwhile, Henry is knocked unconscious after having a fall, and is later found by Marion and Norman.

Joe tells Marian that Jack is still married, whilst Henry tells Jack to stay away from Marian.

The police find the Sugdens Land Rover. Norman proposes to Marian but gets turned down. Meanwhile, Peggy disowns Jack, Marian ends her affair with him and Annie tells him he has two weeks to decide if he wants to stay or go.

Peggy and Matt discover they will have twins, whilst PC Ball prosecutes Jack and Joe. Janie flirts with Frank but he doesn't reciprocate.

Jack has decided to return to London. Janie asks Frank on a date but ends up going out with Joe. However, it doesn't last long when he begins going on about Marian.

Jack changes his mind and invites his friend Bart to Emmerdale Farm. Frank warms to Janie and asks her out, and Marian is unwelcoming to Joe.

Matt finds an unconscious Sam in the cowshed and rushes him to hospital. Meanwhile, Frank and Janie have a great first date, and even have their first kiss.

Chris finds himself caught in the crossfire when the tension between Charity and Zoe reaches epic proportions.

Matthew displays his culinary skills to Terry and Louise by cooking them Sunday lunch. He also invites his friend Sian and attempts to make Louise jealous by being openly flirtatious. However, when Sian realises what his motives are, she is unimpressed and refuses to play second fiddle to Louise. Meanwhile, Zak gets a shock when he discovers Hamish the pony has gone missing and is surprised when Belle reveals that she exchanged the pony for Victoria's doll. How will Jack respond when he hears about his daughter's impressive trade? Elsewhere in the Woolpack, Emily is oblivious to the air of embarrassment between Paddy and Viv and invites a drunken Viv to join them. Will she regret it when a chance encounter in the corridor leaves both Viv and Paddy red-faced?

Paddy is unable to distract himself from his feelings for Viv and resolves to visit her at the shop, where his request for mint balls sends Viv into overdrive. Unable to control themselves any longer, Viv kicks Shadrach out of the shop and locks all the doors before the pair finally give into their passion. With Donna on her way home early, will she discover the steamy affair? Elsewhere, Matthew comes to Louise's rescue when her taxi doesn't turn up and he offers her a ride, which she readily accepts. Louise is a little too happy to hear that Matthew and Siân are just good friends. Can she resist temptation? Later, a homeless Cain gets some unexpected affection from his old friend, Hamish, but despite returning the pony to the Dingles, he receives a frosty reception

Paddy's strange behaviour provokes questions from Marlon and leads Emily to seek marital advice from a painfully guilty Viv. Later at the Woolpack, realising he left his glasses behind after their moment of passion, Paddy arranges to meet Viv outside the toilets to retrieve them. Katie's nerves prove unfounded when she impresses Tom during an interview at the King's. However, with Donna also up for the job, can the pair contain their rivalry? Meanwhile, violence erupts in the village ahead of the fete when Edna and Pearl end up fighting over a packet of raisins!

Donna's carelessness with Buffy the rabbit gives a rampant Viv the opportunity to visit Paddy at the vets, where an innocent thank-you kiss soon turns to a passionate clinch. The temperature plummets when an astonished Marlon catches them together but will this be enough to put an end to their dangerous liaison? Meanwhile Laurel rebuffs Ashley's invitation to be the judge of the baking competition, suggesting the Bishop takes her place seeing as he seems to be doing most of the judging in Emmerdale. Determined to get hold of Jimmy's assets, Sadie then enlists Zoe's help to find legal advice, but will she succeed in wiping the smile off her estranged husband's face? Elsewhere, Jimmy is surprised when Tom offers him an olive branch, welcoming him back into the King fold. Jimmy is delighted to rejoin the family business, but how will Matthew feel when he discovers that Tom has backed down? Sadie's money-grabbing plans are left in ruins when Jimmy's solicitor reveals the real extent of his tattered finances. Sadie is left reeling when Jimmy triumphantly reveals that he's been welcomed back into the King fold and that she won't get a penny out of them. Sadie is shattered as the realisation hits home that she is no longer part of the family and she leaves feeling completely alone. Meanwhile, Nicola faces an uphill struggle to keep her relationship with a reluctant Simon on track. She invites him for a meal with her and a friend the following evening but he is clearly not keen. Elsewhere, Dawn worries about her finances when her earning potential is hindered by her inability to drive. Will she be able to find a suitable instructor?

Simon assures her that it just slipped his mind, but Nicola is left worrying about the strength of their relationship. A harmless competition of ‘Mr and Mrs' in the Woolpack ends in a bitter row when Simon confesses that his dream home would be in Scarborough. Having wrongly assumed that he would want to live with her in Emmerdale, Nicola is furious. Will the fishmonger return to his home town or finally make the commitment that Nicola is so desperate for? Meanwhile, Jimmy is delighted to hear that Sadie has disappeared and heads to Pear Tree cottage to tell Tom and Carl the good news. Tom is clearly not in the mood for celebrating, disappointed at the way things have worked out. Elsewhere, Scott and Dawn are unable to stay civil with one another as he attempts to teach her to drive. Giving it up as a bad job, Dawn asks Bob if he would consider helping her and a thrilled Bob readily accepts the challenge.

Lesley's interfering is welcomed for the first time when she tells Nicola about Simon's past and the breakdown of his previous relationship. Realising that Simon is scared of commitment, she confronts him and he finally opens up to her. After a long chat they announce that Simon is moving to Emmerdale and the couple look smitten as they look forward to their future together. Meanwhile, Viv and Bob are separately miserable as their divorce finally comes through. Viv is delighted when Paddy offers to take her to the Woolpack for a drink, but despite keeping up appearances, it is clear that she is as sad as Bob that their marriage is officially over. Over at the antiques barn, Rodney surprises Paul by asking him to become part owner of the family business. Paul accepts, knowing that is a big step forward for him and his recently found father.

When Emily is late home from a shopping trip with Paul, Paddy heads over to the shop and is unable to resist when Viv invites him upstairs for a bite to eat. The tension mounts between the lonely individuals and before long they are wrapped around one another, forgetting all about the chicken sizzling under the grill. Otherwise engaged, Paddy and Viv fail to notice the grill pan has caught fire, but as the smoke alarm goes crazy and Donna flies in, they are forced to lie that Paddy heard the noise and came to save the day. As Donna brands the vet a hero, he and a Viv are clearly embarrassed by their behaviour. Elsewhere, Nicola and Simon grow closer as they plan their future together. However, Rodney is mortified when he is left with Lesley for company!

Zoe is disappointed when Callum fails to attend the birthday party that she's laid on for him, and when she confronts him he accuses her of using him as an excuse to invite people round. Despite their row, Callum eventually shows his face and has an unexpectedly good time. Louise joins the celebrations and can't help but flirt outrageously with Matthew. Fearing that she's on the brink of doing something that she may regret, she makes a sudden exit and heads for Diane's. Louise confesses that she has feelings for Matthew but insists that she wants her relationship with Terry to work. Will the barmaid stay faithful to her man? Elsewhere, Paddy is disappointed when Emily snubs him for Paul yet again. Viv convinces him that one final fling with her will make him feel better, and she books them a hotel on the internet. Horrified that she is close to discovering Paddy and Viv's affair, he desperately distracts his girlfriend and she fails to discover the identity of Viv's mystery man. Inside the hotel room, a guilty Paddy decides that he can't go through with the liaison and leaves a disappointed Viv feeling dejected and alone. Meanwhile, Emily goes looking for her husband and when she is unable to find him she confesses to Paul that she is no longer happy with her relationship. Could this be the end of the road for Paddy and Emily?

As Emily makes a special effort with Paddy he is full of remorse and contemplates confessing all. Marlon strongly advises him to keep quiet, but will his guilt get the better of him? Over in the shop, Viv also wrestles with her conscience and she gives a surprised Emily the day off. Confused about the odd behaviour of those around her, Emily seeks advice from Paul in an attempt to save her marriage. Elsewhere, Val and Bob provide support for one another in their individual quests. Bob admits that he is looking for a woman, and Val admits that she's after a job

Paddy Confesses Emily walks out of the shop after a rude comment from Viv, and when she returns home in a rage Paddy gets the wrong end of the stick and confesses all. How will the mouse-like creature react to the news of her husband's fling? Over at the B&B, Val is amused when she catches Bob recording a video message in an attempt to get a date. After considerable teasing she offers to help, and after a couple of bottles of wine she offers herself! Elsewhere, Dawn is outraged to discover that Scott conned an elderly lady out of her car and returns the automobile to its rightful owner. The young mum is left in disgust at her boyfriend's behaviour.

Emily struggles to come to terms with her husband's betrayal, but after a few words of advice from Paul, she plucks up the courage to confront both Paddy and Viv. The disgraced postmistress and vet begin to argue over whose fault it was and Emily eventually cracks under the pressure. She tells them that she wants things to carry on as usual and that no one in the village is to know about the affair. Is this something that can be kept under wraps? Elsewhere, Jack is concerned about Diane when she snaps at Victoria and, guessing that she is apprehensive about her forthcoming scan, he does his best to reassure her. Meanwhile, Bob decides that he is determined to achieve one of his greatest ambitions – to get into the Guinness Book of Records! He enlists the help of Val, but will he succeed in reaching his goal, and poor Debbie Dingle feels her baby kick while minding TJ.

It's business as usual for Emily who is determined to behave as though her husband's affair never happed. A guilt-ridden Viv demands that Emily punch her in the face for revenge, but Emily calmly responds that she has no right to tell her what to do. Despite her composed demeanour, Emily confides in Paul and breaks down as she tells him that she can't stop thinking about the betrayal. She returns home, only to find Paddy and Viv discussing what has happened and, despite her instinct to flip, she disappears up to bed, leaving the shamed couple feeling worse than ever. Meanwhile, Donna incorrectly assumes that Viv and Bob are back together and goes to see her step-father to find out what's going on. Val and Bob are busy practicing their world record attempt and not wanting Donna to interrupt, he shouts out that he is with a woman. Donna takes this as confirmation that he is with Viv and later ignores Marlon's protestations that she is wrong.

Emily is irritated when she finds herself clearing up after Paddy at home. When she gets to work she can feel her blood boiling as Laurel innocently tells her that she has heard that Viv has been seeing someone on the sly. Emily's pent up aggression finally becomes too much to contain and the usually timid character explodes, attacking the shop in a frenzy. She sweeps the products off the shelves and smashes everything to the ground. Before long a crowd gathers and a horrified Viv realises that she has only got herself to blame. Later that day, Donna sees the wreckage in the shop and demands an explanation from her mother. Will Viv find the words to tell her daughter about her abysmal behaviour?

A furious Emily packs Paddy's bags before storming over to the Woolpack. The punters look on in shock as Emily dumps the suitcases at her husband's feet and announces that he has been sleeping with the postmistress! When Viv is unable to deny the affair, Bob seethes at the thought of Paddy with his former wife and instinctively smacks him in the face. Does Bob's jealous reaction confirm that he still has feelings for Viv? Meanwhile, a horrified Donna confronts Marlon over whether he knew about the affair and is furious to discover that he did. Marlon tries desperately to make amends but is hurt when Donna accuses him of caring more for Paddy than for her.

Matthew's sights are set firmly on Louise and despite the obvious chemistry between them she continues to reject his advances. With Terry away, Matthew tries a new approach and he openly tells the barmaid that he is crazy about her. Louise insists that she is attached, but the handsome King tells her that it's dinner at his tomorrow night or nothing. Will Louise finally give in to temptation? Elsewhere, Zak does his best to cheer a miserable Emily and invites her to have tea at the Dingles'. She gratefully accepts his offer but later shocks him when she announces that it's over between her and Paddy because he will always come second to her late husband, Butch. Over at the veterinary surgery, Paddy struggles to carry on as usual and when he overhears Tamsin and Libby gossiping about him. He warns Libby that he will sack her if he hears a peep out of her again.

Louise struggles to suppress her desire as Matthew openly plans their dinner together. In a desperate attempt to remain loyal to Terry, she tells Matthew he's a walking cliché and to leave her alone. Later, Louise is consumed by lust. After telling Bob that she's going for a walk, she finds herself at Matthew's door. A delighted Matthew reaches to help her out of her coat and before long they are wrapped up in a passionate clinch. Afterwards, an extremely pleased Matthew pours two glasses of champagne but Louise leaves telling him that it was a one off and will never happen again. Will she remain true to her word? Elsewhere, Andy, Robert and Victoria anxiously wait for their parents to return home and are thrilled when Jack and Diane arrive with news that Diane has been given the all clear. Jack proposes a celebration, but soon regrets it when his wife plans a long shopping trip funded by him!

Sadie takes advantage of Cain's obvious desire for her by telling him that she'll reward him generously if he gets hold of evidence about Jimmy's real financial situation. He agrees to sneak into Pear Tree Cottage but will he come up with the goods? Meanwhile, Louise is distracted by thoughts of her night of passion and arouses Diane's suspicions with her odd behaviour. Unable to stay away, Louise meets Matthew in the car park for another tryst but has second thoughts, leaving Matthew aching for more. Later that day, Louise panics when Matthew starts up a friendly conversation with Terry and at an opportune moment she warns Matthew off and tells him their fling was a mistake. Is this really the end of their dangerous liaison? Over at the Dingles', Chas boasts that she has more will-power than Zak or Shadrach and declares she could give up drinking without a problem. Her father and uncle declare that they could give up booze tomorrow and Chas swiftly takes them up on the offer.

Sadie distracts the Kings in the Woolpack while Cain sneaks into the office to look for evidence of Jimmy's true financial state. Unable to find sufficient paperwork, Cain decides to take Jimmy's laptop along with a few other valuables. Sadie is later relieved that Cain has narrowly avoided being caught and she gives him his bonus before leaving him hanging with a passionate kiss. How will Cain respond to her unexpectedly amorous advance? Meanwhile, Zak and Shadrach soon break their booze ban when Rodney asks them to help him shift some crates of beer. Chas finds the drunken Dingles and tells Rodney about their supposed plans to stay sober. Rodney challenges them to stop drinking for a month in return for £500. They accept the challenge but will they succeed? Elsewhere, a guilt-stricken Louise makes a special effort with Terry and turns down Matthew's invitation to spend the night in a hotel. Sadie is horrified when Denzel questions her about the robbery at Pear Tree Cottage and hints that Cain may have exceeded his brief. On the warpath, Sadie confronts Cain and he reluctantly admits that he stole Jimmy's laptop. Despite her initial fury, all is forgiven when Sadie realises that this is exactly what she needs to get her claws on the Kings' cash. Over in the Woolpack, Rodney is delighted as he catches Zak and Shadrach ordering two pints, but they astonish everyone by ordering two pints of water! Meanwhile, Louise is put on the spot during a drunken game of ‘sex or death' when Paul asks her about Matthew. Louise lies that she would rather die than sleep with him but despite her apparent objection, Matthew proves popular with the others and he is later smug when Val tells him that he is the most eligible bachelor in the village.

Zak resolves to keep his mind off booze by taking a reluctant Shadrach fishing. Noting the gloomy atmosphere, Zak tries to cheer Shadrach up with a cup of tea instead of an alcoholic drink but it clearly isn't enough to satisfy him. Sneaky Shadrach later steals money from the Dingle pot and treats himself to a few drinks at the Malt Shovel. Zak is appalled when he realises what his brother has done and throws him out of the house, branding him scum. Meanwhile, Louise is unable to deny her feelings any longer and when Terry goes out for the day with TJ, she finds herself back in the arms of the irresistible King. Post coital, Louise and Matthew share a tender moment as she admits that it feels so right even though she knows that it's wrong.

Rodney calls off the bet when he catches Shadrach drinking in the Woolpack, but an angry Zak manages to convince Rodney that he has stuck to the rules and persuades him to re-negotiate the deal. Shadrach leaves the Woolpack and disgraces himself by urinating in the street. A disgusted Edna catches him in the act and demanding police action, Denzel is called, leaving Chas torn between her father and her relationship. Elsewhere, Robert delights in telling Sadie that Katie let slip that Jimmy has put in an offer to buy some land. Sadie is intrigued and offers Robert a reward to find out more but can he deliver? Meanwhile, Cain keeps a close eye on Sadie and is furious to see her saying farewell to Robert.

Jimmy is stunned to learn that Mrs Kidderminster has sold her land to Sadie despite his offer. After discussing Sadie's demand, the Kings conclude that it would be a bad idea to allow her to regain her interest in the business. Tom and Max visit Home Farm to break the news to Sadie, who reacts by telling a stunned Tom that Zoe is now going to sell her the only other bit of land that they need for their development. Shaken by Sadie's plans, Tom is forced to concede and offers her a 10% share in King & Sons. Sadie is triumphant but how will Jimmy react to the news?Meanwhile, a concerned Jack questions Robert about his spat with Cain. Robert informs him that it was Cain who spread the rumours about him and Sadie. Robert again denies any wrong doing and explains he was negotiating with Sadie about buying a property on the new King development. Jack is concerned, does Zoe know about the Kings' plans? Jack turns detective when he visits the council offices and discovers that the Kings have gained planning permission to build housing on Zoe's and Mrs Kidderminster's land. Jack wastes no time in revealing to Zoe and Andy the Kings true intentions. The trio make a pact to stop Sadie and the rest of the King family. Meanwhile, a triumphant Sadie arrives at the Kings and gleefully announces that Zoe has agreed to sell her the last field needed for their development. Sadie admits that Zoe is under the illusion the field is to be used for a livery business. However, Sadie is stunned when Andy, Jack and Zoe arrive and inform the gathered King family the game is up and that they are aware of their true intentions for the land. The copper is furious when he discovers that he can't trust his girlfriend to be honest with him and he warns her that if it happens again their relationship will be over. Elsewhere, Zoe come to a decision about her future and announces to Callum that she and Jean will be leaving the village. Meanwhile, Matthew manipulates Robert by telling him that if he convinces Jack to sell his land, there may be room for him in the business. Scott is met with an abrupt refusal when he asks Zoe if he can take Jean on holiday to Spain with him. Zoe is later furious when Ashley questions her decision, making her more adamant than ever that a fresh start is the best thing for her and Jean. Elsewhere, Chas's relationship with Denzel is clearly tarnished as a consequence of her father's behaviour. She explains her fury to Diane but also confesses to being confused over Carl. As Betty cleans at Home Farm she soon picks up on Zoe's plans to move abroad and heads to the Woolpack armed with gossip. Scott is horrified when he hears through the grapevine that Zoe is leaving and heads off to confront her. How will Zoe respond when the father of her child storms round demanding that Jean stay where she is? Over at the Dingles', Shadrach shocks his family when he dresses up and declares that he is a changed man. He insists that he intends on getting himself a job, but Lisa is left to pick up the pieces when he fails miserably. Meanwhile, Libby suggests to Sadie that she stable her horse at Andy's farm, but the young farmer remains adamant that he doesn't want her horse on his land.

Donna is exhausted having single-handedly run the shop and the café in Viv's absence, and when Marlon offers to lend a hand, between them they forget to lock up. Shadrach seizes the opportunity and shamelessly steals as much booze as he can carry from the shop. Donna is distraught when she discovers the missing drink and Marlon instantly suspects his uncle. He heads up to Dingle's homestead to speak to Lisa, Zak and Chas, and when they find Shadrach they insist he hide the alcohol elsewhere. When Denzel arrives on official business Chas is yet again compromised. Will she stand by her father or her boyfriend? Elsewhere, Dawn speaks to Zoe on Scott's behalf and as a mother she can't help but empathise with her. Dawn is angry that Scott failed to mention that Zoe had offered to pay for him to frequently visit Jean and tells him that Zoe deserves a chance. Meanwhile, Andy is unable to turn down Sadie's money and agrees to rent her a stable.

Chas is feeling at an all time low having compromised her relationship with Denzel by lying for her father. During a heart-to-heart with Diane, she admits that she fears she'll never be happy and confesses that she signed up for the army a while ago and is seriously thinking now could be the right time to join the troops. Meanwhile, Viv returns home to news of the burglary and she heads straight up to the Dingles' to give them a piece of her mind. Zak is unrepentant and reminds Viv that she stole Emily's husband, claiming she's now had her just deserts. Later that day, Scott tells Viv that he fears he'll lose Jean, but his overprotective mother promises that she will never let that happen. What does Viv have up her sleeve?

Sadie is upset when she is snubbed by Zoe and Jimmy takes delight in telling her that no one would miss her if she disappeared. Feeling miserable, she heads back to the B&B and finds skimpy underwear on her bed with a note inviting her to Cain's room. She can't help but be tempted but is he the tonic she needs? Meanwhile, Viv sets about fighting for Jean, and after visiting the Citizen's Advice Bureau she tells Scott that they stand a good chance of getting custody of Jean by proving that Zoe is unbalanced. Cain is furious when Sadie is dismissive about the previous night and feeling wronged the angry Dingle promises to make her pay. Later that day, Sadie is fraught when she finds a docile looking Damon, and she is later horrified when her beloved dog is pronounced dead. Is Cain responsible for the unexpected fatality? Meanwhile, Viv tries a different tack and asks Terry to make Zoe see sense about taking Jean away. Remembering how he felt when he thought he'd lose TJ he agrees to try, but Zoe quickly guesses that Viv sent him and insists that she has made up her mind. Elsewhere, Betty asks Jarvis how he will be celebrating his impending 65th birthday but he is determined that he doesn't want to do anything. Betty asks Len to talk to him and when he does Jarvis reluctantly agrees to a few drinks the following day.

Tom can't help but sympathise with Sadie and he offers to help bury her beloved pet. As they spend time together, Sadie comes clean about her past. How will Tom react when she confesses that she slept with Robert Sugden? Meanwhile, Jarvis's pleas for a low key birthday are unheard and the quiet drinks he planned in the Woolpack soon turn into a party. Despite his initial reluctance, Jarvis soon goes with the flow, so much so that he puts his back out on the dance floor! That evening, Libby invites Andy to be her date at the farmer's ball the following week. He is thrilled to be asked but worries that his lack of dancing ability will let him down. Terry offers to give him lessons but can he learn the moves in time?

Carl notes that Chas is feeling low and he takes her out for a drink in Hotten to cheer her up. During the evening Chas tells him about her plans to join the army and he is clearly upset at the thought of losing her. Their conversation is interrupted when Chas sees an old friend and Carl is left gutted that he hasn't had the opportunity to tell her how he really feels. Meanwhile, Tom is concerned when he hears that Sadie is planning to leave the village and he goes to say his goodbyes. Sadie hands over the land and assures him that she never wanted to use it as a lever to get back in with the Kings. Tom softens and invites her back into the firm, but how will Jimmy feel when he discovers his ex-wife is back on board? Over in the café, Viv takes great pleasure in outlining Home Farm's sordid past to ensure potential buyers of the property are put off for good.

Chas tells her family that she plans to join the army and is disappointed when they make their disapproval crystal clear. Meanwhile, Carl worries that he can't bare the thought of losing Chas and Max and advises his brother to talk to her. As he confesses his true feelings, Jimmy interrupts with a mocking comment and Chas is left believing that she is at the centre of some sort of bet. Viv and Scott discuss the situation and agree that it is brilliant that Zoe thinks they are at loggerheads. Scott then goes back to the pub and apologises to Zoe, telling her that he's told his mum that it's none of her business. What are Viv and Scott scheming? Meanwhile, pregnant teenager Debbie is feeling increasingly isolated, and having spoken to no-one about her delicate state, she is in desperate need of help. She goes to her hideout place and calls a teen advice line but after asking a few awkward questions she hangs up. Scott puts his plan into action and sends Viv round to Home Farm to apologise to Zoe. Viv spells out her concerns in her usual brash manner, clearing the way for Scott to arrive and offer Zoe a sympathetic shoulder. Will Zoe fall for Scott's charm offensive? Daz is determined to get to the bottom of what is bothering Debbie and he follows her as she sneaks off to her hide. Believing that she is alone, Debbie takes off her jumper and as she reveals her bump Daz bursts in and is shocked by what he sees before him. Debbie insists that Daz mustn't tell a sole that she is pregnant, but is this secret too large to keep to himself? Elsewhere, Lesley has her feet firmly under the table at Mill Cottage, much to Nicola's annoyance. Simon and Nicola head off to view houses and Lesley invites herself along, infuriating Nicola further. How much more can Nicola take? Meanwhile, Chas finds herself explaining her decision to join the army and insists that it is something that she has always dreamed of doing. Feeling that she is being discouraged she becomes even more determined that she has made the right decision.

Daz is clearly concerned about Debbie and he visits the hide armed with presents for the expectant mother. Debbie confesses that she plans to dump the baby at a hospital after the birth, but Daz argues that Zak and Lisa would help out if they knew. Daz pleads with Debbie to visit a doctor but will the stubborn Dingle do the right thing?Meanwhile, Carl confesses to Max that he can't stand the thought of Chas leaving the village. But after failing to convince her before, will he swallow his pride and tell Chas how he really feels? Elsewhere, an embarrassed Andy visits Viv for a dancing lesson in preparation for the farmers' ball and the postmistress takes delight in showing him a few moves!

Debbie panics when she overhears Zak and Shadrach saying that they are heading off to the woods and fearing that they'll find her hide she asks Daz to go and clear it. The Dingles later stumble across Daz and he manages to excuse his whereabouts. However, he later tells Debbie that he won't lie on her behalf anymore. Debbie fears that Daz will tell Andy about the baby and to keep him quiet she says she's going to see a doctor. She heads off to the surgery but bottles it at the last minute, later lying to Daz that she saw the doctor and everything is fine. Elsewhere, Andy's dancing lessons appear to be paying off and Viv is thrilled at his progress. He proudly tells Libby that she is in for a surprise at the farmer's ball leaving her curious as to what he has planned!

Donna is shocked by Scott’s generosity with money, unaware that it is his way of saying goodbye as he prepares to leave the country with Zoe and Jean. Before heading to Home Farm, Scott also posts a letter to girlfriend Dawn. Having acknowledged his feelings for Zoe, Scott gets down on one knee at Home Farm to propose. Zoe is unable to keep up the pretence that everything is going ahead as planned and tells him there is no way she will marry him, before retracting her invitation for Scott to join her and Jean in America. Scott reacts by throwing her down against the table in a rage. Zoe grabs the nearest thing to her, a syringe filled with Ketamine she had just prepared for an injured horse and plunges it into him. As Scott falls to the floor Zoe picks up a second syringe just as Paddy walks in and witnesses the attack. Has Zoe enough hatred for Scott to inject him with the second needle and get him out of her life for good

The police arrive at Home Farm to question Zoe. When the engagement ring and the puncture wounds on Scott’s body are discovered DI Warren begins to wonder if Zoe knows more than she is letting on and she is arrested on suspicion of assault. Paddy is told that he must give a statement but is aware this evidence is crucial to Zoe’s fate. When the drugs are mentioned and the fact that as a vet, Zoe would be aware of their effect on humans, the pressure is on Paddy to ensure some damage limitation? Meanwhile, Viv is told of Scott’s condition and rushes to the hospital. Adamant that Zoe is responsible, Viv tells Bob that Zoe will pay for what she has done. Will Viv go through with her threat and seek revenge for her critically ill son?

Zoe awaits news on whether she is to be charged or not until the police have obtained a statement from Scott, who is currently unconscious. Eventually, Zoe is released on bail but told to have no contact with witnesses. That afternoon, back at Home Farm, there’s a knock at the door and Viv barges her way in. Zoe tells Viv that Scott tried to rape her but Viv is having none of it and goes for Zoe. A struggle ensues but Depaul arrives and prises them apart, telling Zoe she’ll end up getting herself arrested again. Will Depaul ensure Viv leaves before Zoe says something she might later regret? Elsewhere, Dawn is furious when she receives Scott’s letter telling her he’s left the village and, feeling betrayed, she decides to flee to Spain. However, when Bob fills her in on events, will she change her mind and go to Scott’s bedside?

Kelly Windsor makes a shock return to the village to be at Scott’s bedside, but step-mum Viv isn’t impressed. Kelly doesn’t waste any time in showing that she hasn’t changed when a young doctor on duty arrives and she sets about seducing him. Kelly quick slips back into caring mode when Viv arrives back from the canteen but are Bob and Marlon as convinced by Kelly’s display of concern as Viv seems to be? Meanwhile, Ashley pays Zoe a visit and asks her to explain what happened. He reminds her of a previous comment she made saying that she wanted Scott out of her life for good, but Zoe is indignant at his suggestions. With an arguing family by his bedside, Scott awakes. He tries to speak and manages to mumble something about Zoe trying to kill him. Before those around him can make sense of what he is saying he begins to fit and as the nurse calls for assistance the family are hustled out. When Bob and Donna are alone, he admits to her that Scott had written Dawn a letter explaining that he and Zoe were running away together. Donna is stunned but finally understands Dawn’s reasons for going to Spain. The doctor explains to a distraught Viv that Scott may suffer permanent brain damage. As the family take in the news, the police knock on Zoe’s door and escort her away for questioning. While Emily baby-sits Sarah, Debbie is distraught to find that Andy won’t leave the farm to spend time with her. Is he avoiding her for a reason?

Kelly turns up at Home Farm with a journalist and snap-happy photographer. Zoe is stunned, and when pushed for a comment she realises she’s beaten and heads inside. Meanwhile, Dawn arrives at the hospital and is stunned to see Scott’s delicate condition. Kelly makes snide comments about Dawn not being there sooner and as she tries to defend herself she goes to grab Scott’s letter. Will Bob be able to stop her? Elsewhere, Robert is angry when he finds a cheque that Jack has written for Andy. He thinks that Andy is becoming Jack’s favourite son and is determined to get back at him, so sets about chatting up Libby. Andy is upset when he sees Libby accept a lift from Robert. How far will Robert go to seek revenge on his brother?

At the hospital Dawn is irritated by Kelly and Viv’s continuous bitchy remarks and finally snaps showing a stunned Viv the letter from Scott. Viv is distraught and in her frustration she begs Scott to wake up. She refuses to believe her would leave her and is desperate to question him. After pressure from Cain, Andy visits Debbie. She tells him that she wishes they could spend more time together and suggests that she moves back to Butler’s farm to be with him. Will Andy agree? Elsewhere, Lesley suspects that there is something strange about Rose and determined to get to the bottom of it, she invites her to the pub. Lesley opens up to Rose and confesses that she lied about her arm to get close to her son. What will Rose reveal to Lesley?

Andy confesses to Jack that while he wants to do the right thing by Sarah, he no longer has any feelings for Debbie. Andy pays Debbie a visit and when she tells him that she loves him, he admits that he doesn’t feel the same. He apologises but Debbie is inconsolable. He insists he’ll always be there for Sarah, but an angry Debbie says he can’t have the baby without her. Debbie is distraught as she watches the man she loves walk away. Ashley is taken aback when he gets a call out of the blue from his brother asking if Jasmine, Ashley’s 15 year old niece, can come to stay. Will he agree to take her in for the summer? Kelly, meanwhile, spends the day flirting with Danny, but will he respond to her advances?

A distraught Debbie tells Cain that she and Andy are finished. Cain is ready to go and hunt Andy down but he receives a second blow when Debbie announces that she’s called social services and is getting rid of her baby. After finding out that Debbie has banned Andy from seeing Sarah, Jack tells Robert that Andy could do with his support. After much deliberation, Jack comes to the conclusion that Andy would be better off if he sells his land, and Tom is elated to hear of the farmer’s change of heart. However, when he goes to sign the doted line, Andy stops him in his tracks and the father and son leave delighted that the Kings haven’t managed to get one over on them. Enjoying their triumph, they take things one step further as they mischievously drive their muck spreader past Pear Tree Cottage! The villagers are amazed by Jack and Andy’s behaviour the previous day but it is clear that they do not regret their actions. Tom later goes to see Jack and tells him the offer is still there if he wants it, but Jack makes it perfectly clear that he has no intention of selling. A frustrated Tom goes back to the office and tells Matthew that he wants this sorted by the time he gets back from his business trip, but will he be able to make Jack budge? Elsewhere, Matthew continues with his other task and steps up his attempt to woo Louise. Back at the Woolpack, Louise asks to see Terry, and as they go to the back room she discovers that he has decked out the room with roses. She begins to cry and tells him that she loves him but can’t be with him. Terry is completely stunned and devastated as Louise’s words sink in. Elsewhere, Jimmy suggests employing Cain to put pressure on the Sugdens. Matthew disagrees, but Jimmy gets Cain on side regardless. Cain pockets fifty quid before telling Jimmy that although he’d love to smash Andy’s face in, he promised Debbie he wouldn’t. He walks off with the money leaving Jimmy livid.Meanwhile, Viv is insulted when Dawn fails to ask after Scott, and tells her that despite everything Scott needs them all - including Dawn. Louise is pleased to see Diane back, and in need of a shoulder to cry on she tells her that she and Terry are over. Louise is annoyed at Diane’s interference and tells her to go to hell. Later, in the bar, Diane consoles Terry and feeling he deserves the truth, she tells him that Louise has been seeing Matthew. Terry is momentarily stunned but then heads for the door. He finds Louise and Matthew together, but he is too emotional to pick a fight and he sobs as he watches Matthew lead the lady he loves away. How will the chef react when he discovers his girlfriend’s deceit?

After much deliberation, Ashley visits Zoe ready to discuss the incident with Scott. Ashley is stunned when Zoe confesses that she tried to kill Scott and although she is adamant that it was self defence he is shocked further when she tells him that she enjoyed humiliating him. Ashley storms off in disgust leaving Zoe fearing that she has said too much. Will the vicar go to the police? Elsewhere, Matthew realises that he must be there for Louise and Terry is upset as he watches them acting affectionately in public. Louise is hurt by the reaction from some of the villagers and Matthew comforts her half-heartedly, unsure of what he has got into and how he can handle it. Meanwhile, Diane lets slip to Marlon that he has been entered into a competition and he is furious that Donna has gone behind his back. She eventually manages to calm him down and after much deliberation Marlon agrees to go through with it.

Its Alice and Sam's wedding today and the whole village turn up, Zak walks Alice down the aisle. Sam finds out Alice is going to give up chemo treatment and focu more on her final time with her new husband.

Debbie confesses her love for Jasmine and Tom King decides to employ Dawn Woods to be an assistant to Edna.

Daz offers to take the blame for the fire but Debbie wants to own up.

Carl smacks Matthew while Debbie and Jasmine are found kissing by Debbie's father, Cain.

Jo's about to leave the village, but is stopped at the last minute by Andy, who has just found out Katie isn't pregnant after all. Katie is understandably devastated when she finds out her husband and her friend have embarked on a second affair, under her nose.Rodney can't believe his luck when Georgina suggests a more personal meeting. But being homeless, where's he supposed to take her? The entrepreneur thinks on his feet and takes her to Victoria Cottage, but you can bet Emily and Paul won't be too pleased!Meanwhile, poor Marlon's having a bad day and a half. His wife's in a huff after he went back to work at the pub and then he hurts his back while building the new eco home. Is there a light at the end of the tunnel for the couple?

David was still devastated following Leyla's confession and was on a mission to teach Nathan a lesson, if for no other reason than he'd always hated him. Nathan provided him with the perfect opportunity when he caught Leyla leaving work and hurled abuse at her for being cheap and easy. David didn't need any more prompting...

Laurel was at the end of her tether with Sally's interfering and told her in no uncertain terms that if she needed help, she would ask for it. Sally took this quite well but was fuming when Laurel told her she wasn't invited to Ashley's birthday celebrations.

It was Ashley's birthday and Sally was determined not to be left out of the celebrations. However, even Ashley was in no mood to insist she join in and Sally was at the end of her jealous tether. Laurel found her doing the church correspondence and blasted her for deliberately interfering. Sally left the church, but before she did, she made sure Laurel would regret taking her for granted...

Laurel worked on the church correspondence not realising the grave danger she was in until it was too late. The heater set fire to the curtain and within seconds, the flames were raging through the building. Laurel had lost her phone and her only chance of getting help was to ring the church bells.

The village was in shock following the church fire and worried sick about Laurel. However, Laurel eventually regained consciousness and was receiving visitors that evening. She was confused when Ashley told her the church doors had been open when he went in to save her. Did he believe her when she told him the door was locked? Elsewhere, David asked Priya out on a date.

Doug couldn't bear to see Leyla and David so unhappy and had a word with David, reminding him what a great catch Leyla was. David plucked up the courage to speak to his ex. Was there any chance of a reunion? Elsewhere, Sally enjoyed ruling the roost while Laurel recovered in hospital.

Nicola could tell that Laurel was uneasy about returning home and of course, she had every reason to be. Annoyed at no longer being the lady of the house, Sally waited for the first opportunity to do away with Laurel. When no one was around and Laurel was napping on the sofa, Sally picked up a cushion and was ready to do her worst. But then... Meanwhile, Marlon struggled to hide his jealousy when Moira was couply with John.

To prove his trust to Charity, Cain took her and Debbie shopping, stopping at the storage unit first. Charity now knew exactly where he was keeping his money and told Carl she didn't need his help any more... Elsewhere, Laurel talked herself out of suspecting Sally.

Debbie was thrilled that her parents had spent the night together and were seemingly 'back on'. Carl was determined that Charity wouldn't have her cake and eat and went through with his promise to tell Cain about their collusion. However, after convincing Cain that Carl was lying, Charity landed on her feet again when she came across the key to Cain's storage unit at the garage.

Charity was clearly confused over her feelings for Cain. She was settling back into family life but she also had the key to his fortune. And people were starting to suspect that she was up to something... Meanwhile, Moira sussed that Marlon had a crush on her.

Charity battled with her emotions over Cain and his money, unable to figure out what she really wanted. Later that night, Cain told her he was in love with her. But was that enough to make her change her plans? Elsewhere, Hannah went missing after getting drunk at Aaron's party.

It wasn't long before Cain discovered his storage security card was missing. Putting two and two together, he headed straight to the unit with Debbie, to find Charity with his cash. What he didn't know was that she had changed her mind and was putting the money back. She wanted to be with him - but it was too late.

Marlon was touched when Moira told him how grateful she was to him for looking out for Hannah. Unsurprisingly, he took this as further evidence that she fancied him. But even Paddy couldn't convince Marlon that his head was in the clouds. Was the chef heading for the biggest embarrassment of his life? Meanwhile, Cain blamed Debbie for Charity's betrayal, insisting she never should have allowed her mother back into their lives.

Marlon finally bit the bullet and told Moira that he loved her. As you can imagine, she was virtually speechless... Elsewhere, Zak comforted Cain and Chas found out about Carl's involvement with Charity.

Cain hit the roof when he found out Marlon had let Charity stay at Tall Trees. Storming over there, Cain literally threw all his money in her face and told her to take it, because that's all she was getting. Charity pleaded with Cain to believe that she wanted him, but the damage was done. There was nothing left for her in the village. Would she take the money and go?

Mark couldn't hide his jealousy at Faye's blossoming relationship with Jai. She was stunned when Mark revealed he'd made a mistake. He didn't want to be with Natasha any more - he wanted her. Elsewhere, Sam convinced Olena to stay in the village for a while longer.

Belle, Will and Sam are showing Olena around Home Farm estate when Will collapses and starts convulsing. Belle runs to get help while Olena puts Will in the recovery position. But will this unexpected episode expose Olena to the authorities? Elsewhere, Charity begs Debbie for another chance. And at the factory, Priya is forced to step up her authority when her brothers threaten to sack Eli.

Worried that walking out on his family could affect Will's health, Mark told Faye they wouldn't be together until after Christmas. How did she take it? Meanwhile, Laurel told Sally it was time for her to move on.

When the church fire report concluded a heater had started the blaze, Laurel knew something was wrong. She went to the church and slowly pieced things together, realising that Sally must have moved the heater and locked her inside. But Laurel had a big problem on her hands... Ashley refused to believe her allegations. Would Sally succeed in getting rid of Laurel after all? Meanwhile, Jai guessed that Faye was having an affair with Mark.

Ashley refused to believe Laurel's allegations against Sally, so she threatened to walk out. But Ashley stood by Sally, believing Laurel was deluded following the fire. Laurel packed a bag and left. Was her marriage over? Elsewhere, Maisie was in serious trouble with Katie.

Sally offered to leave Mulberry to make Ashley believe she was trying to be helpful. There was a brief respite when Laurel came home, believing Sally had left the village. But she was staying at Edna's and when Laurel found out, a blazing row with Ashley ended with Laurel leaving the village instead. Could Ashley and Laurel's marriage survive Sally's sabotage?

Doug was furious that Ashley was siding with Sally over Laurel and told him that if she never came back it would be his fault. Meanwhile, Sally had to hide her glee as Edna broke the news that Laurel had left the village. When would she make her move? Elsewhere, Diane found out that Val and Eric were opening a restaurant at the B&B.

Adam was confused when Aaron appeared to have gone off Holly, but Aaron insisted he was playing it cool so she would come running. Was this really what was going on? Elsewhere, Charity felt very alone when no one would speak to her, and Doug told Ashley he wouldn't allow Laurel to get hurt any more.

Doug had some harsh words for Ashley but was all ready to apologise when he returned home to find his son-in-law drinking wine with Sally. That was the last straw and when Ashley wouldn't make Sally leave, Doug decided he would. Elsewhere, Holly was gutted when Aaron made it clear he no longer fancied her.

Adam and Aaron were out driving when they almost had a serious accident. Aaron cut his head, but as Adam leant in to check out the injury, Aaron did something very unexpected… Shadrach and Zak found Sam talking to someone. Zak realised something was up and started heading upstairs, but before Sam could stop him Olena stepped out and decided to give herself up.

Aaron continued to ignore Paddy in an attempt to shut out the events of the night before. Adam dropped in to see Aaron and talk through the previous evening, but Aaron flatly denied anything happened between them. Meanwhile Nicola was shocked when Scarlett insisted she wasn't going to claim her inheritance until she knew what to do with it.

Debbie found out about Charity's church donation, and tried to get the cash back - knowing that Cain would go mental once he realised what had happened. Meanwhile Adam told Holly to steer clear of Aaron, but didn’t explain why, and poor Ashley struggled with the thought of facing Christmas alone. Plus Moira and John worried about Hannah after she pretended to be ill to skive off school

Adam was worried when Holly went out for a drink with Aaron and his fears were confirmed when Aaron kisses Holly passionately in front of him. Meanwhile, Charity was over the moon when the Sharmas give her a job, and Marlon and Eli were worried about Lizzie's state of mind. And it all blew up when Pollard changed his mind about giving Olena a job...

Carl and Charity had a falling out in The Woolpack. After Debbie jumped in, she let slip that Chas knew about the money all along. Carl went mad at Chas and she stormed out. Katie tried to set up Maisie and Jai, and they got on famously until Maisie realised what Jai had in store for her back at Holdgate. And Lisa was flattered when her art teacher tells her she'd make an excellent model, but was taken aback after he asked her to pose nude!

It's was all go in the garage when Carl threatened to kill Debbie if she didn't give him the money. Charity then stepped in with a large spade and took out his legs. Later Charity and Debbie filled Chas in on Carl's behaviour, she was devastated that he put the money berfore her - but he left without listening. Plus Sally turned on her charm on Ashley when she dropped by - but he refused to fall for it.

Ashley was about to lose the plot, when Laurel called - unfortunately she only wanted to make a time to see Gabby. And Edna begged with Ashley to return to work, but he couldn't manage it. Charity was pleasantly surprised when Debbie invited her and Noah over for Christmas Day, whilst Carl and Chas had naother fight over the money. And Mark and Faye agreed they'd let everyone they're together after Christmas.

Sally concocted a plan when she found out Laurel used to organise the Church carol service and surprised Ashley by arranging it all herself. He was touched and gave a moving speech - has she managed to reel him back in? Maisie helped Ryan buy a Christmas present for Katie and the two ended up playfully teasing each other as they shopped. Meanwhile, Terry prepared a dinner party for Val and Pollard, who had to admit his stew was tasty - and eventually agreed simple home cooking could make a profit.

Lisa initially rejected Holly's request to be a nude life model for her art class, but the thought of the money spurred her on. But she didn't tell Zak where she had been as she knew he wouldn't approve. Ryan and Katie carried a worse-for-wear Maisie home from the pub and Ryan helped put her to bed on Katie's sofa. Maisie told him she liked him looking after her... And Nikhil was taken aback when Adele kissed him under the mistletoe in the pub.

Debbie was angry that Cain returned to Emmerdale. But not as shocked as Cain when he realised Charity was still knocking about the Dales. Maisie was hungover after her boozy night, and felt awkward around Ryan. While he felt guilty about his feelings for Maisie, and took out Katie to dinner to make up for it. Sally was pleased when she found out that Ashley wasn't getting back together with Laurel.

He might have promised Debbie he’d stay out of trouble, but Cain still went for Carl with a spanner after he found out that he'd attacked her. Faye gave Mark a ring as a Xmas present and Natasha got suspicious when she found him being super-nice to the kids. Plus Lisa lied to Zak about where she got the money for Belle’s lap top.

Charity and Cain had a big fight over Christmas dinner at Wishing Well. But things took an unexpected and romantic turn for the ex-lovers when Charity proposed! Meanwhile Mark divided the day between Faye and his family, and Aaron felt weird around Adam at the Barton’s when they were paired up for karaoke. Plus Nicola and Jimmy spent their first Christmas with baby Angelica, and Ashley had a tragic meeting with Laurel.

Cain and Charity break some big news to the Dingles, but will it make up for Christmas? Meanwhile, Mark and Faye decide to come clean... Elsewhere, Maisie talks to Ryan about her feelings.

Natasha saw a 'To Let' sign outside Faye's house and stopped by to tell her good riddance. What she didn't know was that Mark had been with Faye just moments before and she didn't plan on leaving the village alone... Will Natasha suss what her husband is up to before he walks out on her? Elsewhere, Maisie was happy to hear that Katie and Ryan were coming to the pub on New Year's Eve and Zak gave Lisa the go-ahead for more nude modelling.

Maisie added some festive spice to the Woolpack New Year's Eve party by getting a slap from Faye. Despite his initial annoyance at Maisie's behaviour, it wasn't long before Ryan was kissing her passionately in the shadows leaving Katie to wonder where her boyfriend was. Meanwhile, the villagers cracked on with the celebrations, not knowing what explosive revelations the New Year would bring...

Ryan and Maisie had some time alone at Home Farm and came dangerously close to taking things further. What they didn't know was that during a few stolen moments in the office, Nathan walked in and saw them. What action will Nathan take? Elsewhere, Natasha shocked Faye by offering up a truce.

Nathan revealed that he'd seen Ryan and Maisie and told his friend he couldn't carry on two-timing Katie. If Ryan didn't end it with one of them, Nathan would tell Katie everything. Meanwhile, Cain teased Aaron when a male customer gave him the come-on at the garage. And Ashley was flabbergasted when Nicola accused him of having an affair with Sally.

Ryan sat down and told a devastated Katie he was calling off their relationship. Poor Katie couldn't believe her ears and demanded to know if he had feelings for someone else. What did he say? Meanwhile, Holly propositioned Aaron at the pub, but he couldn't take his eyes off Adam.

When Aaron spent the night with Holly, Adam knew he had to tell her what he knew. He blurted out that Aaron had tried to kiss him on the night of the crash. But did Holly believe him? Meanwhile, Maisie felt terrible about Katie and told Ryan he should tell her the truth. And at Mulberry, Diane made it clear to Ashley that he had to get rid of Sally if he stood any chance of saving his marriage.

Ashley was finally going to tell Sally that she had to leave the village and sat her down to have the conversation. But in her deranged little head, Sally was convinced Ashley was about to declare his love and moved in for a kiss... Meanwhile, Katie shunned Ryan at the pub and Adam told John about Aaron.

Ashley couldn't believe it when Sally revealed she was in love with him and believed his feelings were mutual. She even dared to tell him that he had chosen Laurel over her. How did he react to that? Over at Home Farm, Natasha knew that Mark had lied about playing golf. And the Bartons wondered how Aaron could possibly be gay.

Aaron knew Adam had fuelled the gossip about his sexuality and confronted him. But Adam gave him a choice - finish it with Holly or have the whole village find out he was gay. Elsewhere, Faye and Mark knew Natasha was onto them, while Ryan and Maisie planned some quality time together. Things were getting more complicated for Mark by the minute... How would it all end?

Natasha was convinced that Mark was lying to her and sure enough, she quickly found out that he wasn't where he claimed to be. But did she find out what he was really up to? Meanwhile, Aaron deliberately got caught being intimate with Holly so that Paddy would believe he was straight. And Nikhil realised he had met his match in Charity.

Unaware that Ryan and Maisie were upstairs, Mark and Faye returned to Tenant's Cottage having decided to end their affair. But as they kissed each other goodbye, Natasha walked in... Elsewhere, Adam and Aaron called a truce and Charity tried to convince the Sharmas she could double their profits.

Mark's world came crashing down around him as his terrible secrets came spilling out. Ryan heard how his mother had lied to him all his life about his real father, and Maisie felt sick as she realised she had fallen for her half-brother. And what about Natasha and Faye?

Natasha tried to convince her children that she'd kept Mark's awful secret to protect them. But all they knew was that Mark had torn their family apart. Faye was beside herself when Ryan went walkabout and she couldn't find him anywhere. Later when Mark was alone at Home Farm, he wrote Natasha a letter and headed off into the woods - with his shotgun. But he wasn't the one who pulled the trigger. Who shot Mark?

Faye was relieved when Ryan finally came home although he didn't have anything to say. At Home Farm, Natasha had to convince Will that his missing father had not abandoned him. And finally, Ashley asked Sally to leave the village, but she told him she wasn't going anywhere.

Ashley and Gabby were on their way to see Laurel when Sally suddenly appeared in the road. It was too late for Ashley to swerve so he hit her and she she landed unconscious, on the ground. How badly was she hurt? Elsewhere, Nicola had a fit when she found Jimmy enjoying a drink in the pub instead of helping with the christening arrangements.

Ashley had a hunch that Sally had deliberately stepped in front of his car but she wouldn't admit it. When he refused to stay with her, she behaved like an animal and later told Edna that she and Ashley had been having a relationship. Did Edna believe these terrible lies? Elsewhere, Jimmy and Carl went on an overnight job the day before Angelica's christening. Would they make it back in time?

Against all odds, the christening went ahead and Nicola forgave Jimmy for arriving late and looking like a chimney sweep. Meanwhile, Ashley went to see Sally and told her to get her sick, deluded ideas out of her head. He could finally see how mad she really was. But was it too late?

Carl was stunned when his ex-wife Colleen turned up with their kids and asked him to take care of them for a while. Chas was furious when he accepted without consulting her. But after all, he was their father. How would parenthood affect Chas and Carl's relationship? Elsewhere, a senior member of the diocese paid Ashley a visit to take down some details regarding the Sally saga.

Charity enjoyed making Carl squirm as he was forced to ask her to do a driving job for him. Predictably Cain wasn't too happy about the arrangement but she told him he could like it or lump it. Elsewhere, Ashley broke down in front of Edna and she finally believed he was telling the truth about Sally.

Edna confronted Sally over her 'feelings' for Ashley and asked her to leave. Sally's response was to smirk and tell Edna that she didn't take kindly to people turning against her. Should Edna worry? Elsewhere, Debbie enjoyed a drink with Nikhil while Charity and Cain toasted her new job. All was going well with the Dingles - for now...

Ashley is alarmed when Terry reveals Sally is staying at the B&B. Later on, Edna realises it was Sally who hurled the brick through her window all those weeks ago. Together, Ashley and Edna warn Sally that her game is up – but she’s got another vicious move up her sleeve… Meanwhile, Natasha is heartbroken when Will continues to question Mark’s whereabouts. And Nicola forces Jimmy to set a date for the wedding.

Natasha and Maisie are struggling to cope when the police arrive to question them. Meanwhile, the Bishop comes to see Sally’s handiwork and apologises to Ashley for underestimating the situation. And finally, Aaron drops a wrench on Cain’s foot, causing rather a lot of damage…

The investigation into Mark’s disappearance begins. Will they uncover the truth about what happened? Meanwhile, unable to cope with her feelings for Ryan, Maisie asks him for a private word. Will Ryan comfort his sister or snub her? Elsewhere, Kayleigh teases Victoria about getting a lift from Moira and tells her to send Hannah another text. Will Victoria give in to her vicious friend?

Victoria feels guilty when she’s on the bus with Hannah, who receives yet another nasty text message. Hannah bursts into tears and Victoria looks at the long list of abuse on her mobile phone. Will this be enough to make Victoria stop the bullying? Elsewhere, Leyla has to calm a hysterical Maisie after she talks to Faye about Ryan. And Olena feels uncomfortable at Sam’s obvious feelings for her, as she is interested in someone else.

The Bartons are having dinner at Diane's when Hannah receives another text message. Victoria finally admits that she knows all about the nasty messages, but soon wishes she hadn't... Meanwhile, Maisie keeps up a front and appreciates some kindness from Andy at work. Elsewhere, Carl is reluctant to spend time with his children.

Maisie is close to the edge as she hears Ryan is staying with Katie again. Downing several drinks, Maisie has another episode in the Woolpack. But will she tell Katie the truth about Ryan? Meanwhile, Zak tries to take the pressure off Lisa. Olena is troubled by Sam's attraction to her and Victoria is punished by her peers at school.

Lisa is thrilled when Zak whisks her away for a romantic break, leaving Shadrach in the house unattended. Shadrach decides to enjoy a rare pleasure - a bath. But he falls asleep with the water running... Will Lisa and Zak have a home to come back to? Up at Home Farm, the police tell Natasha they've found a body. And finally, Diane tries to break the ice with Moira.

The police ask Natasha to identify the body while Ryan breaks the news to Faye. Faye rushes to the station and takes Natasha's hand before they both go in. But is it Mark? Elsewhere. Marlon helps mend relations between Diane and Moira. And Shadrach does a runner after his soggy mishap at Wishing Well.

Aaron is shocked when Holly tells him they are through. Debbie's news devastates Andy.

Charity is alarmed to be questioned by the police. Ashley considers a fresh start. Nicola is on a mission to help Rodney.

Jai uses the excuse of offering Sam a few more hours work at the factory to attempt try and find out why the police are sniffing around. James and Cain fuss around Moira who is still in agony with her ankle.

Two police officers arrive at Wishing Well Cottage to search for evidence. Ali and Ruby are delighted to discover that they're having a baby after taking a pregnancy test. Rachel sheepishly tells Lisa about her and Sam stealing the Christmas presents from Home Farm, explaining that that is why he's on the CCTV. Debbie tells Cain that for a second Ross reminded her of Cameron and she just lost it, she assures him that she'll be fine with him.

Ruby announces to Rachel that she's pregnant. Jai continues to try and get information over Sam's arrest. James drops an unenthusiastic Finn off for his first day of work at the B&B. Finn instantly takes a dislike to the job as Eric barks orders at him and gets his name wrong.

Finn feigns incompetence in an attempt to get fired from the B&B. Aware of his game, Val tells him the only way he is likely to be sacked is for sexual harassment. Ruby tells Bob that she's pregnant.

Eric asks Diane about Val as she has been irate all night. Diane covers for her. When alone, Diane questions Val on what happened with Ian, but Val refuses to say. Ali and Ruby tell Sean and Amelia their pregnancy news.

Eric tries to get Val to tell him what's troubling her, but she won't budge. Alicia considers ringing Leyla but David reacts badly to the idea. Ali tries to comfort Ruby as they prepare to leave hospital. News spreads around the village about Ruby's ectopic pregnancy as Dan breaks the news to Sean and Amelia.

Georgia tells David that Priya is still suffering from morning sickness and she has a doctor's appointment in the afternoon. Leyla gets back to Alicia and agrees to meet her when Alicia won't take no for an answer. Val tries to apologise to Eric for her behaviour, blaming it on missing Amy but he tells her he doesn't believe her.

A disgusted Alicia drags Leyla off the stage. Dom arrives back at Brook Cottage to find Declan has evicted him for breaking the terms of his lease - subletting to Alicia. Witnessing the incident, Vanessa invites Dom and Gemma back to Victoria Cottage. Priya explains to Dr Cavanagh that she's not been eating. Leyla begs Alicia to not allow her job change things between them.

Alicia and Leyla are let out of prison. They plan to go back to Leyla's flat and collect her stuff. Ali and Lisa gather Rachel and Sam to make plans for the wedding. Dom shows his gratitude to Vanessa by fixing things around the house and offering to cook dinner.

Sam voices the idea of leaving the village to Rachel but she doesn't take it seriously. David is still wary over Leyla spending time with Jacob. Priya continues to avoid eating. Brenda's disappointed when she misses Nikhil and Molly when Georgia speaks to them on Skype.

Sam sits alone in his cell. Charity offers support to the Dingles. Leyla states that she's having lunch with Priya. Alicia warns her not to wind David up if she wants to build bridges with Jacob. Charity's conscience starts to kick in when she realises that Sam might not get bail. Brenda and Ruby attend the bereavement counselling group session. Nicola calls round to see Megan.

Cain tells the Dingles he's got them a new lawyer. Samson asks when Sam is coming home. Lisa lies that he's off looking for work. Alicia wants to take David for a meal and Leyla offers to look after the shop again. Jacob complains of feeling sick while on the way to school. Charity tells Declan that she told Rachel the truth and is blackmailing her into taking the blame to get Sam out of prison.

News of Sam's arrest reaches the Hotten Courier. Leyla offers to look after Jacob when he's still not well enough to go to school. Brenda's upset when Georgia says she's booked her flight to Canada. Val continues to avoid spending time alone with Eric. Some of the residents gather in The Woolpack to see Jude off.

Ali sees Rachel getting off the bus from Hotten and realises she's been to say goodbye to Sam. Alicia forces Jacob to stay in bed as punishment for faking being ill. Leyla buys Alicia her favourite bottle of wine and leaves to give her and David some alone time. Rachel finishes packing her things as an oblivious Jai arrives back at Wishing Well Cottage to drop Archie off.

The Dingles celebrate having Sam home, but Zak is curious as to why the charges against him were dropped. Declan and Charity break the news to Megan and Robbie that Rachel has confessed to starting the fire at Home Farm. Harriet talks Ashley into staying out for more drinks. Alicia reluctantly allows Leyla to babysit Jacob. Ruby tries to get Ali to tell her what's going on.

Jai and Sam are both still trying to get hold of Rachel. Debbie's surprised when Charity refuses to gloat about Rachel leaving the village and is confident she won't return for the court hearing. Brenda sets out in public for the first time without a wig. Jai harasses Ali trying to get information on Rachel and Archie's whereabouts. Vanessa tries to spend some time with Dom but is unsuccessful.

Priya thinks she has a solution for Leyla on the job front and asks Rishi to consider giving Leyla a job at the factory. He agrees to think about it. As Charity and Declan set off on their business trip to Germany, Debbie privately wonders about her mother's involvement in the fire.

Sam rings in sick to the school for Samson, waiting to hear from Rachel. James and Pete are optimistic about a new tenant farm that is up for grabs. Val and Eric are frosty with each other. Eric is hurt that she won't tell him what he's done wrong, whilst she is unable to tell him the truth. Leyla sets off for her first day at the factory, whilst David throws a strop when Alicia avoids telling Leyla to move out.

Ruby, Amelia and Sean arrive home to find the house trashed. Ali storms out, determined to finish it once and for all. Leyla jumps at the chance to look after Jacob, while Alicia dreads telling her she has to move out. Adam offers to wait in at Tug Ghyll for a washing machine delivery while Katie and Vanessa leave to tend to a horse.

Alicia and David are left worried about how to break the news to Jacob that they have asked Leyla to leave. Ruby's frosty with Ali when she tells her she can't come to the doctor's with her to see if they can try again for a baby. Eric looks awful as he is full of flu. Val panics, terrified that she may have caused it. Ali and Dan visit Megan and Ali makes her listen as she explains how Declan set Rachel up.

Kerry is all over Dan as she tends to his wounds, under the illusion that he was mugged. Ali and Dan reluctantly decide that they have no choice but to let things lie with Charity and Declan, worried about what they are capable of. Jacob makes it clear that he's not happy about David and Alicia's decision to kick Leyla out.

Marlon convinces Sam to let Samson go to school, but he snaps at him when he tries to get Sam to move on from Rachel. Eric milks the situation as Val panders to him, worried about his health, she calls Dr Cavanagh. Sam's surprised and intrigued when Jai suggests that they can unite in their quest to find Rachel and Archie. Dr Cavanagh assures Val that Eric has only got the flu, but she is upset when she finds out that Eric didn't receive a blood test and her plan has been thwarted.

Brenda offers comfort to Alicia who is worrying over Jacob's situation. James uses his charm to get Bernice to increase her order from the farm for the planned beer festival, he's pleased with himself when she agrees knowing that it will keep Moira happy. Declan and Charity continue their romantic display for everyone to see.

Jacob questions why Eric is allowed to stay with them but Leyla isn't. Brenda can't help but show her envy as she and Bob watch a video that Georgia has sent over from Canada of her and Molly. Moira is sad as Adam leaves home, but Cain is pleased that he is one step closer to having Moira all to himself.

James refuses to believe that Pete isn't covering for Ross. Jimmy gets drunk in The Woolpack at the beer festival, with all of the barrels to himself as nobody else is drinking them. James is appalled when he finally realises that Pete is telling the truth as he explains that he started selling drugs to keep them afloat.

Megan, Declan and Robbie discuss new beginnings as they stand at the burnt-out wreck of Home Farm, but Declan is anxious about costs, conscious of his promise to Charity. Charity is furious when she finds out they've already received their insurance payout and is apoplectic when Declan confesses that all the money is accounted for and he can't pay her anything.

At a meal to celebrate Georgia's return from Canada, Leyla's suspicions are seemingly confirmed when Priya makes her excuses and abandons her plate of food. Leyla lays her suspicions on the line to Priya and they argue, but are embarrassed to realise that everyone is watching them.

Leyla lies about why she and Priya were arguing. Feeling humiliated, Priya leaves in tears and a guilty Leyla follows. Leyla is shocked by Priya's threat to turn the tables on her if she dares to tell anyone about her problem.

Moira and Cain arrive back at the farm. Bob shows Harriet where he's planted the camera in the café. Cain presents Moira with her engagement ring and they break the news to Adam, Zak, Andy, Pete and James as they arrive for dinner. Bernice is gleeful as Anton keeps texting her.

Chas surprises Diane by arriving back at the pub with Katie, she informs them that Aaron and Ed have broken up. Betty tries to con Bob out of another free cake at the café but he becomes annoyed with her. Victoria calls on David to try to talk to Eric as he begins to talk to solicitors about divorcing Val.

The morning after and Diane tries to talk to Eric about what happened but he runs out. Val writes letters addressed to Eric, Diane and Victoria. Ruby suspects Gemma of fancying a lad at school when she notices her appearance and eagerness to get to school. Dom is suspicious. Bernice makes sure that Jimmy and Nicola will be out the house for Anton's visit later.

Diane silently realises that Eric may potentially have HIV and could have passed it onto her too. Bob apologises to Ruby and they make up. Bernice relives her humiliation to PC Swirling as the burglary is reported. Diane tells Val she knows about Ian and her HIV problem. Gemma's upset as the boy who she arranged a date with stood her up after finding out about the abortion.

Bob tries to prepare himself for confronting Brenda about her thieving. Victoria catches Diane searching for HIV treatment options. She tells her she's found information on a blocking treatment - PEP, but Victoria points out that it's only useful if you've been newly exposed to the virus in the past 72 hours. Brenda gives Bob his Valentine's present - a 100% cashmere jumper. He's suspicious when she says she hasn't got the receipt.

Brenda's appalled when Bob tells her he and Ruby have seen footage of her stealing. Diane secretly takes her anti-HIV drugs. She tells Val she's made an appointment at the clinic for her tomorrow.

Diane throws away her PEP treatment pills, now realising she doesn't need them. She frets to Eric about Val's situation and struggles with the guilt of them sleeping together. Val awakes on her birthday to find Eric had disappeared.
